Erika Hewlett

Erika HewlettMy name is Erika Mills Hewlett. I am excited to announce my candidacy for the Lafayette County Board of Education representing district 4. As a dedicated parent community member, and lifelong resident of Lafayette County, I understand the importance of a quality education for our children. That’s why I am committed to serving our district and working tirelessly to ensure that every student and staff member has access to the resources and support they need to help our schools succeed.

I was born and raised in Lafayette County. I attended LCSD K-12 as did my family and my husband’ s family. The school district was blessed to have my mother as a teaching assistant (32 years) and a school bus driver (28 years). I feel I have a history there. For my two children and all other children of this county, I want to help the district thrive as these children navigate their way through the most important and influential time of their lives.

Education is changing. In an age of technology, things like artificial intelligence (“AI”), technology and technological advancements in careers mean that it is essential to embrace change and utilize it in the best ways to ensure our students’ successes in the future. I want to help provide the children and dedicated staff all the resources they will need to help our district produce leaders and confident adults of tomorrow.

I look forward to connecting with fellow community members, hearing your feedback, and working together to create a brighter future for our students. Join me on this journey and let’s make a positive impact on our schools!
