Judith Thompson

Judith ThompsonDr. Judith Thompson is a seasonal educator and dedicated community leader, with a career spanning over four decades in the field of education. A native of Louisville, Mississippi, Dr. Thompson completed high school in her hometown of Louisville, Mississippi. She earned her undergraduate degree in Early Childhood, a Master’s in Educational Leadership, and a Doctorate in Curriculum and Instruction, at the University of Mississippi.

Dr. Thompson began her educational career as a 1st a grade teacher at Bramlette Elementary, where she nurtured young minds with patience and passion. She later advanced to leadership roles, serving as an assistant principal and principal, where she demonstrated her commitment to academic excellence and student development. After retiring from the Oxford School District, Dr. Thompson continued her service to education as the Director of Early Head Start, in Holly Springs, Mississippi, a Barksdale’s Reading Institute Specialist, and later as a Permanent Assistant Professor at the University of Mississippi from 2006 to 2019.

Her dedication extends beyond the classroom and into the community. Dr. Judith Thompson is currently a school board member for the Lafayette County School District. She serves on the Corporate Board and Area Council Board for the Boys and Girls Club of North Mississippi, as well as the Baptist Memorial Hospital Community Advisory Board. Her previous board memberships include Excell by 5, Leap Frog, Merchant & Farmers Bank, United Way, CREATE Foundation, SEMI Advisory Board (CEUs training hours for certification), Upsilon Iota Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. and the Oxford Medical Ministry.

Dr. Judith Thompson is also a devoted family person, married to James Oscar Thompson, with two children Phil and Rico. Her commitment to education and community service has left a lasting impact on the lives of many, and her contributions continue to shape the future of her community.
